The Two Most Common Types of Microforms are Roll Film and Microfiche
A
roll film conversion requires different scanning equipment accessories than a microfiche digital conversion. That being said when it comes to
digital microfilm conversion, the final product is not different when comparing microfilm and microfiche.
Generally speaking, all of the types of documents can be contained on both microfilm and microfiche, such as 8.5 x 11, 8.5 x 14, maps, blueprints, checks, computer printouts, EKG graphs, earthquake records, and technically anything that was on paper. From the technical standpoint, the reduction ratio or aspect ratio is very has the same variety 12X to 48x+.
Microfilm and microfiche are by far the most common types of microforms. Aperture cards (PC cards with a 35mm frame and hollerith) are third. Color slides can also be considered to be microform.
