What is Microfiche? Need Microfiche Scanning?


A microfiche is a flat film card 105 x 148 mm in size with reduced

images of documents. Microfiche frames may be landscape or portrait.

Generally speaking, the top of the microfiche contains a fiche label or

header used for identification. Until microfiche are digitized to PDF,

TIFF, or JPEG by a microfiche scanning company like Scanning Depot,

microfiche are stored in open top envelopes which are stored in drawers

or boxes as file cards, or placed into plastic sleeves in books.

The old way to retrieve information from microfiche is to use a
